14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was the toast of India U19’s recent ICC U19 World Cup 2026 win. India U19 defeated England U19 in the final that was played on February 6, 2026, in Harare, Zimbabwe.
India had opted to bat first in the final after winning the toss, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi blasted the England bowlers from the get-go. He hammered a 55-ball century, eventually making 175 in 80 balls with 15 fours and 15 sixes to his name, leading India to 251/2 in 25 overs.
India managed to put on 411/9 in 50 overs, thanks to crucial contributions from Abhigyan Kundu and Kanishk Chouhan.
England were behind in the ball game from the start, and despite Caleb Falconer’s 115 and Ben Dawkins’ 66, they could only manage 311 runs in 40.2 overs. India U19 won the game by 100 runs and became the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 champions.
This was India’s sixth U19 World Cup win in 10 appearances in the final. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi won the Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament.
After lighting up the 22-yard pitch with his prolific knock, Suryavanshi stole the show in the locker room with his dance performances. In a viral video, Sooryavanshi can be seen celebrating the win in the Indian dressing room.
He can be heard saying that he couldn’t understand Punjabi music that was being played, and now he will get Bhojpuri music on the speakers.
“Punjabi gaana nahi samajh mein aa raha hai guys. Abhi Bhojpuri lagega (I am unable to understand Punjabi songs, guys. It's time to switch to Bhojpuri songs)," Sooryavanshi said.
Sooryavanshi also led Team India's celebrations in the team bus.
