India’s U19 batting superstar Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stunned everyone in the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup 2026 final between India U19 and England U19. This match is being played at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, Zimbabwe, on February 6, 2026.
India captain Ayush Mhatre won the toss and chose to bat first. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi opened the innings with semi-final hero Aaron George. However, George was dismissed by Alex Green for 9 runs, bringing out Ayush Mhatre to the crease.
However, it was Sooryavanshi who decided to decimate the England U19 bowlers, as he went hammer and tongs at them. He added a 142-run stand for the second wicket with Ayush Mhatre, who made 53 in 51 balls before his dismissal to Manny Lumsden.
But Sooryavanshi continued his barrage of sixes and fours against England bowlers. He reached his century in just 55 balls and became the youngest centurion in U19 World Cup history and also the fastest Indian to score a hundred in the tournament.
Notably, he smashed the fastest century by an Indian ever in a U19 World Cup. Sooryavanshi broke Raj Angad Bawa’s previous Indian record of a 69-ball hundred set in a 2022 event. The fastest century in the history of the U19 World Cup was hit by Australia’s Will Malajczuk, who slammed a ton in 51 balls in the 2026 edition.
He then completed his 150 runs in just 71 balls, hitting the fastest 150 in U19 one-day cricket ever. Sooryavanshi looked prime for a double century, but his brilliant knock ended at 175 in 80 balls. He hit an eye-watering 15 fours and 15 sixes in his knock.
Sooryavanshi became just the third Indian player to make a century in the U19 World Cup final and the sixth overall. Other batters with hundreds in a junior World Cup final include Unmukt Chand, Manjot Kalra, Brett Williams, Jarrad Burke, and Stephen Peters.
The cricket fraternity was left stunned to see the tremendous talent the 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi possesses, and lauded his brilliant knock on social media.
