Sahibzada Farhan has become a topic for ridicule as a video of him has gone viral on social media. In the video, Sahibzada Farhan is seen ranking openers including Ahmed Shehzad, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Saeed Anwar.
Sahibzada has established his place as Pakistan's T20I starter. He has played 37 T20Is for his country and scored 917 runs. So far, the right-handed batter has eight fifty-plus hits. He averages more than 25 in this format.
Sahibzada, who has yet to make his ODI or Test debut for Pakistan, has been nominated to the team's preliminary roster for the 2018 T20 World Cup.
In the viral video, Sahibzada Farhan is asked by the interviewer about his favorite opening batter, and Farhan names Ahmed Shehzad.
“Ahmed Shehzad is someone I used to follow. I was his fan and started my cricket after watching him,” he said.
Then Farhan was asked to choose his favorite openers, with Shehzad being pitted against Saeed Anwar, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virender Sehwag, and the batter surprisingly still chooses Shehzad over all the aforementioned legends of cricket.
During a conversation, former Pakistan cricketers Basit Ali and Kamran Akmal mocked Sahibzada while also apologizing for his "mistake". Basit was stunned when he heard about Sahibzada's decision, while Kamran, who had already seen the video, couldn't stop laughing.
"(Ye fake hai) This is fake. Hundred percent fake. Sahibzada Farhan has not gone mad so far that he picks Ahmed Shehzad over Sachin Tendulkar. I plead with you to stop this topic," Basit, with folded hands, said on the YouTube channel 'The Game Plan'.
Meanwhile, Kamran, who could not control his laughter, said, "He (Sahibzada) is a cricketer, he should think. He revealed his idol, but to say that Ahmed Shehzad is better than the likes of Saeed Anwar and Sachin Tendulkar (is not right). It's okay if he thinks like this, but he should answer in a better manner."
Then Basit said, "I promise you all, whenever I meet Sahibzada, I will ask him, 'Were you in your senses that day?' I promise."
"Whoever asks you a question regarding Sahibzada's pick, tell him that Basit Ali and Kamran Akmal apologise for it," he added.
Kamran concluded, "We ask for forgiveness over Sahibzada's mistake."
