The opening round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT 2025) tournament saw Mumbai taking on Sikkim in their first game on December 24, 2025. This match was played at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur.
Sikkim captain Lee Yong Lepcha won the toss and chose to bat first. Ashish Thapa made 79, while Sai Satvik and Kranthi Kumar made 34 runs each, as Sikkim made 236/7 in 50 overs. Shardul Thakur picked up two wickets for Mumbai.
Rohit Sharma opened the innings for Mumbai with Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who made 38 runs in 58 balls. Rohit Sharma took the attack to the opposition bowlers, using the poor balls to his advantage by sending them onto the boundary, relieving Angkrish Raghuvanshi of his pressure.
He added 141 runs for the first wicket with Raghuvanshi and was then joined by Musheer Khan, who made his List-A debut for Mumbai. Khan made 27* with two fours.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma hammered 155 in 94 balls with 18 fours and 9 sixes in his knock. He had a strike rate of 164.89 in the match before he was dismissed by Kranthi Kumar in the 30th over. Mumbai won the game by 8 wickets in the 31st over, and Rohit Sharma was named the Player of the Match.
This was Rohit Sharma’s 37th List-A ton and second in the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament.
