Indian team decided to snub Mohsin Naqvi completely during the U19 Asia Cup final post-match presentation while the PCB chairman handed the trophy to Pakistan side and celebrate with them after their win in Dubai on Sunday (December 21).
Pakistan outplayed their arch-rivals in the title clash, racking up 347/8 in 50 overs on the back of Sameer Minhas' dazzling 172 off 113 balls.
The Boys in Blue got off to a flyer in their run chase thanks to Vaibhav Sooryvanshi, but the innings soon fell apart. Indian batters failed under the pressure of the final, and their innings folded for 156 in 26.2 overs.
After Pakistan recorded a 191-run victory to clinch the title, Naqvi came to stage alongside other dignitaries for the presentation. The Indian players, however, decided not to share the stage with Naqvi and collected their medals from another dignitary, away from the main dais where the ACC chief was standing.
Naqvi gave away the winners' medals to the Pakistan players and handed trophy to captain Farhan Yousaf. The PCB boss was then clicked being with the players and the team management who rejoiced the famous win.
Mohsin Naqvi was also seen on the field when the Pakistan players were carrying out their victory lap.
Mohsin Naqvi's appearance at the presentation ceremony rekindled memories of the controversial ending to the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai, where the ACC president insisted on personally handing the trophy to India. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side refused, leading to the ceremony being abruptly halted.
Furious with Team India’s stand, Naqvi took the silverware and medals in his custody. After BCCI’s protest, he said that if India want the trophy and medals, a member of their team can collect them from his ACC office in Dubai.
