Former Indian cricketer Robin Singh says that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are valuable resources for India in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, which is set to take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

Rohit and Virat were recently featured for India in the ODI series against the West Indies. Rohit Sharma made 32, 101, and 92 in the three games, while Kohli made 139*, 29, and 0 in the series. Since the World Cup is just around a year away, both look like good bets to represent India in the event.

Talking exclusively to IANS, Robin Singh opined that the experience and form of the duo will prove invaluable in the World Cup. He went on to state that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have both been outstanding in terms of keeping themselves fit and would be huge assets for the team in the upcoming big event.

"I think experience is one thing. But more importantly, I think it's their form that is important. And of course, with age comes plenty of experience. So that's really not a problem. They know what to do.

It's more about staying in the moment, staying fit, and continuing to play well. I think they are doing that exceptionally well. So, there are no complaints. They definitely will be a big asset to the Indian team,” Robin Singh said on IANS.

The India team management experimented with their playing combinations in the recent ODI series as they tried to find their best playing combination for the World Cup. Robin Singh stated that the head coach Gautam Gambhir-led team management is likely to build their selections around a clear World Cup strategy.

"Look, I think they are trying out as many players as possible. They do have their formula in place. So, I am pretty sure Gautam and his team members have a clear formula. I am sure he has a way of approaching the World Cup and knows the type of players he wants for the tournament. So, I am pretty sure they will try to pick players around that strategy, give them enough opportunities to perform, and ensure they have the ability to select the best team before the World Cup," Singh, who played 136 ODIs and one Test for India, said.
