For the third and final Test match against England at Edgbaston, the senior men's squad was coached by Pakistan white-ball coach Mike Hesson. Nevertheless, Babar Azam's squad lost the three-match series 0-3 after losing by eight wickets.  

Nonetheless, the team's performance was noticeably superior to that of the preceding two tests; thus, it was not unexpected that he entered the race to take up the position permanently in the longest format.

After Pakistan lost the third Test by 8 wickets, Hesson faced the media and was grilled by the reporters. But one instance led to Hesson, former New Zealand coach, losing his cool, and he didn't waste any time shutting the journalist down.

The journalist claimed that Hesson was fascinated with having more all-rounders in the squad, claiming that the Pakistan XI's bowling was compromised. However, Hesson provided the facts, stating that the visitors used five bowlers in Edgbaston as opposed to four in the last Test at Lord's.

Here is the conversation:

Reporter: “Apparently, we have seen that you believe more in all-rounders. In the T20 World Cup, Abrar Ahmed missed out because of Shadab Khan. And here Saim Ayub played, and we went with four seamers and seven batters. Despite compromising on the bowling front, Pakistan struggled with the bat. So what do you have to say about this? Why does Pakistan always go with fewer specialist bowlers and more all-rounders?”

Hesson: “In the previous test, they played four bowlers. In this test, we played five. So I don't understand your question.”

Reporter: “Okay. So…”

Hesson: “I think you need to get your facts right before you start making comments like that.”  

Even in the third test, Pakistan was bowled out for 133 runs in the first innings, and England replied with 453 runs. Pakistan did well in the second innings, as Azan Awais, Shan Masood, Babar Azam, and debutant Razaullah hammered half-centuries to score 449 runs. But England managed to win the game by 8 wickets and pocketed the series 3-0.
