Ex-India captain Rohit Sharma will be making his India TV debut as the host of a game show. This will be the first time Rohit will be engaging with a live audience and participants on national TV. He even shot a teaser for the same, and his T-shirt had a message that many thought was a dig at the BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
The image soon went viral on social media as the India batter was seen wearing a white T-shirt with the words "NON COMMITTAL?" emblazoned on it.
The T-shirt first appeared in relation to advertising materials for his new Sony LIV series, Family Full House with Rohit Sharma, which will be live on September 19, 2026. Given the significance of that particular phrase, the word chosen on the outfit immediately attracted attention.
This phrase goes back to Ajit Agarkar’s press conference in October last year at the BCCI headquarters. While announcing the India squad for the three-match ODI series in Australia, Agarkar publicly declared that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were "non-committal" about competing in the 2027 ODI World Cup. The announcement also revealed that Shubman Gill had replaced Rohit Sharma as the next ODI captain.
By this time, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had retired from Tests and T20Is. In the ICC Champions Trophy, Rohit scored 180 runs, including a 76 in the final against New Zealand in Dubai, a match India won to end a 10-year ICC trophy drought.
In response to Agarkar's characterization, Rohit had earlier addressed the "non-committal" moniker at a DP World event, telling supporters, "You got to commit to watch." Many observers interpreted the comment as a lighthearted and pointed statement.
Although a secondary interpretation indicates the statement also functions as a promotional tool for the Sony LIV show to drive social media engagement prior to its introduction, the t-shirt appearance has since been regarded as a continuation of that same tone.
Several fans reacted to Rohit Sharma's T-Shirt with the "Non Committal" message on it and linked it to Ajit Agarkar's statement.
