Trinbago captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and chose to bowl first. Shimron Hetmyer made 111* off 43 balls with 8 fours and 9 sixes, propelling Guyana to 185/5 in 20 overs. Glenn Phillips was dismissed for a duck in four balls, opening the innings.

In the Trinbago innings, Alex Hales made 55, and Pooran made 43 as they managed 172/7 while chasing a revised target of 182 in 16 overs, and lost the game by 9 runs via the DLS method.

However, the highlight of the Trinbago innings was the catch taken by Glenn Phillips to dismiss the dangerous Sunil Narine. After two overs, Dwaine Pretorius' delivery met an attacking shot from Sunil Narine, with the scoreboard showing 17/0.
