Young batting star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has begun his prep for the upcoming red-ball challenge in the Duleep Trophy 2026-27. The 15-year-old will turn out for East Zone and has also been named the vice-captain of the squad, with Ishan Kishan leading the team.
Sooryavanshi quickly went into red-ball mode to get ready for the multi-day inter-zonal event after assisting India in defeating Zimbabwe in a T20I series last month.
According to a Cricbuzz report, Sooryavanshi is currently training with some of his RR teammates at the RR performance center in Nagpur after receiving assistance from his IPL squad, the Rajasthan Royals. Sooryavanshi is honing his red-ball skills as part of a 10-day training program run by RR.
"Currently, the franchise is holding a 10-day camp for its players, with Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Sharma, Shubham Dubey, Ravi Singh and Sushant Mishra besides Sooryavanshi among those in attendance. Of that group, Sooryavanshi and Deshpande will feature in the Duleep Trophy, representing East Zone and West Zone respectively. Sooryavanshi is his side's vice-captain," the Cricbuzz report stated.

Although Sooryavanshi has demonstrated his abilities in white-ball cricket, the forthcoming multi-day competition offers him the chance to disprove his detractors and demonstrate that he is equally at ease in the lengthier format.
"The camp combines technical skill development, strength and conditioning, workload management, recovery and performance analysis through individually tailored training programmes. The objective is to ensure players return to competitive cricket physically prepared, technically refined and ready for the demands of the domestic season," RR said in a statement,
