Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Friday (August 7) announced free public entry for the upcoming two-match Test series against India.

The move aims to revive local interest in red-ball cricket and attract maximum stadium attendance for this vital leg of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–2027 cycle.

"Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) wishes to announce that public admission to the upcoming Test Series between Sri Lanka and India will be free of charge thus providing cricket fans with an excellent opportunity to witness world-class Test cricket," the board said in an official statement.

The Test matches are split between two of Sri Lanka's most iconic cricket venues -- Galle International Cricket Stadium (August 15-19) and Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo (August 23-27).

To effectively manage the expected crowds, specific access points have been designated for spectators. In Galle, free entry is restricted to Gate No. 4 while Free entry is available via Gates 3, 4, 5, and 7 in Colombo.

"Sri Lanka Cricket warmly invites cricket enthusiasts, young aspiring cricketers, families, and sports fans from across the country to take advantage of this initiative and experience the excitement of international Test cricket between Sri Lanka and India," the statement added.

India enter the series ranked fifth on the WTC table, looking to gather maximum points under captain Shubman Gill to strengthen their qualification chances. Hosts Sri Lanka, currently sitting at sixth place, are targeting a strong comeback following a recent series defeat to the West Indies.

The Sri Lanka tour marks the official debut of Subhadeep Ghosh as India's fielding coach, after the BCCI decided against extending contracts of his predecessor T Dilip and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate.
