England and India faced off in the third ODI of the three-match series at Lord’s on July 19, 2026. The series is leveled 1-1, with India winning the first ODI in Birmingham and England winning the second match in Cardiff.
Harry Brook won the toss and chose to bat first at Lord’s. India made three changes, bringing in KL Rahul, Arshdeep Singh, and Prince Yadav for Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah.
England openers Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell took the Indian bowlers to the cleaners and added 192 runs for the first wicket. Bethell fell for 91 runs with 11 fours and 2 sixes. Duckett went on to make 141 with 18 fours and one six.
Joe Root then made 74* in 48 balls with 9 fours, while Jos Buttler’s 13-ball 41* with 4 fours and 3 sixes propelled England to 387/3. Prasidh Krishna picked two wickets for India, while Gurnoor Brar went for 97 runs in his 10 overs.
In response, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma started cautiously and added 147 runs inside 25 overs for the first wicket. Gill fell for 77 in 84 balls with 10 fours and one six, but Rohit Sharma was at his peak powers.
He reached 50 in 50 balls and then accelerated to reach his century in just 84 balls. With the triple-digit score, he became the first Indian batter to score an ODI ton at Lord’s. His knock ended at 138 by Jacob Bethell, having hit 17 fours and 5 sixes, and he was looking good to take India near the finish line.
Rohit Sharma was under severe pressure, having scored 240-odd runs in his last 8 ODIs with just one fifty. There were rumors as well about his appearance at Lord’s being his final one for India and his impending retirement.
However, Rohit Sharma shut those critics up with a sublime ton at Lord's, breaking a few records on the way as well. The Indian cricket fraternity was all praise for his brilliant knock and lauded him on social media.
