Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar made a special appearance ahead of the final day’s play of the ongoing Test match between England women and India women, the first women’s Test to be played at Lord’s ground in London.
Tendulkar was seen meeting the Indian women’s players as they prepped for the final day’s play on July 13, 2026, as they were on the verge of creating history.
England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt won the toss and chose to bowl first. India, thanks to Smriti Mandhana’s 83 and half-centuries by Harmanpreet Kaur (58) and Deepti Sharma (57), posted 285 runs in the first innings.
In response, Kranti Gaud wreaked havoc in the England camp, taking 5/37, as only Amy Jones (52) and Sciver-Brunt (44) could withstand some great Indian bowling as England posted 170 runs in the first innings.
With a first-innings lead of 115 runs, India's women set out to put up a big target for England. Mandhana laid the foundation with 70 runs, and Richa Ghosh made 50, but the innings belonged to Yastika Bhatia, who made 113 to take India to 341/7 declared. Bhatia became the first batter to score a century in a women’s Test at Lord’s.
England ended day 3 on 130/6 in the chase of the 457-run target with Amy Jones once again scoring a fifty, while Sneh Rana took three wickets.
Before the final day’s play began on day four, the India women’s team and support staff received a huge dose of confidence when Sachin Tendulkar visited them and was seen giving them a pep talk. He was encouraging the team as they were on the cusp of winning the first-ever Women’s Test at the home of cricket.
