IPL 2026: “Lowest form of scumbags”- Aakash Chopra slams trolls for abusing wives and sisters of cricketers online

Shreyas Iyer's sister and Travis Head's wife received vile threats on social media.

Aakash Chopra slammed trolls for abusing wives and sisters of cricketers | XFormer India cricketer Aakash Chopra has shown concern for the growing trend where trolls target the families, including wives and sisters, online to vent out their frustration with cricketers.

His words have come after recent incidents involving Travis Head’s wife and Shreyas Iyer’s sister receiving abusive comments on social media. Kohli’s refusal to shake hands with Head during the customary post-match ritual became a major talking point on social media.

Head’s wife Jessica revealed that she received vile threats after the Australian cricketer’s spat with Virat Kohli in the recent IPL 2026 game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

On the other hand, Shresta Iyer, the sister of Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer, has been trolled on social media after she had posted a video mocking the Kolkata Knight Riders after their game against PBKS was washed out.

When PBKS was eliminated from the IPL 2026, after losing six straight games in their last seven encounters, Shresta was trolled heavily for her previous video.

Chopra criticized so-called followers for not being able to put up with criticism of their cricket idols, calling people who engage in online harassment "scumbags" without mentioning any specific individuals.

People abusing Wives…kids…are the lowest form of scumbags. Some might be found under this comment, too. Same lowlifes won’t handle an iota of criticism about themselves or their idols. Hypocrites," Chopra posted on X.
