Suryakumar Yadav had impressed everyone with his performances for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and now proved his mettle in the international arena as well due to his amazing performances for India in the ongoing white-ball tour of Sri Lanka as well.
Yadav was adjudged as the Man of the Series in the recently concluded three-match ODI series and continued his form by scoring a superb half-century against Sri Lanka in the first T20I of the three-match series on Sunday (25 July).
India veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh rated Suryakumar highly and called him to be no less than senior pros like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
“I have followed Suryakumar Yadav for years now. When I was captaining the Mumbai Indians, he was a young boy and in today’s time, after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, he is the most complete player in terms of batting,” Harbhajan said on Sports Tak.

The 30-year-old who recently made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka showed his class in the series that earned him a call-up in India's Test squad which is in England and the veteran spinner felt irrespective of the format, Suryakumar Yadav is a ‘must’ in the Indian team.
“Over the years, I have seen him grow as a player. He is a phenomenal batsman, who can play fast bowling. He has plenty of time and in terms of playing spin, you will not find a better batsman in India in today’s time. So, in my opinion, Suryakumar is a must whether it’s World Cup squad, one-day squad, T20I or Test squad,” the 41-year-old signed off.
As far as the Sri Lanka tour is concerned, despite Krunal Pandya testing positive for COVID-19, given that the identified close contacts returned negative tests, the second T20I between India and hosts Sri Lanka will now be played on 28 July.
