For the first time in 41 years, five players made their debuts for the Indian cricket team in the third ODI against Sri Lanka on Friday (July 23). Rahul Chahar was among the five players who got their debut cap.
It was India cricketer Deepak Chahar who handed debut cap to cousin Rahul at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Apart from Rahul, Nitish Rana, Sanju Samson, Krishnappa Gowtham, and Chetan Sakariya also made their maiden appearances in ODI.

Although India failed to win the match, Rahul performed well and picked up 3 for 54 in 10 overs. He gave India hope of a comeback but there were not enough runs to put Sri Lanka under pressure.
Sri Lanka chased down 227 runs (D/L) and won the last ODI by 3 wickets. India had already sealed the series with two consecutive wins in the first two matches.
