Former Australian cricket Brad Hogg heaped praise on the Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian cricket team ahead of the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka after former skipper Arjuna Ranatunga’s controversial remark on the tourists.
With Virat Kohli-led team already in England for the WTC 2021 Final and the upcoming Test series, the BCCI named a mix of young and experienced players for the Sri Lanka tour to play three ODIs and as many T20Is from July 13 in Colombo.
Recently, Arjuna Ranatunga, former Sri Lanka captain, said playing a second-string Indian team is an insult to Lankan cricket and slammed the SLC for agreeing to play the weaker side.
Well, Ranatunga's statement didn’t go down well with many especially India cricketers and now Hogg joined them by saying this Indian squad is capable enough to challenge any full-strength team across the world at the moment.
The Indian team will be coached by legendary Rahul Dravid in Sri Lanka.
The former Australian spinner took to Twitter on Wednesday (July 7) to laud this new Team India and said Sri Lankans couldn’t complain about the team strength for the upcoming series.
Hogg wrote on Twitter, “Looking at the India squad in Sri Lanka, I don't think the hosts can complain. It's a line-up that would challenge all full-strength teams at the moment #INDvSL.”
He also predicted that India will both T20I and ODI series in England under Dravid and Dhawan.
The Aussie tweeted, “Sri Lanka is having a few issues. India will win both series. Rahul Dravid to disciplined to not have the squad in the right frame of mind. #INDvSL”
