Former England cricketer Nick Compton reacted to the Indian cricket team's series loss against South Africa on Friday (January 14). South Africa chased down the target of 212 runs on Day 4 with 7 wickets in hand.

India had won the first Test match in Centurion by 113 runs, but they went on to lose the next match by 7 wickets in Johannesburg before facing a defeat in the series decider.

Compton was not very hopeful of South Africa putting up a fight against an experienced side led by Virat Kohli. He posted a tweet after their win and also took a jibe at Kohli and the Indian bowling attack on Twitter.

"Wow South Africa! Did not have money on that… what a result! Poor Virat???? #SAvIND," wrote Compton.

In another tweet, Compton suggested that Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav shouldn't be picked in the playing eleven. "Re India - Said it last year Thakur is not a world test number one top line bowler and neither is Yadav.. I can’t believe they still get picked! Tell me @RaunakRK," his tweet read.

Compton also posted the list of wicket-takers in the series which was topped by South African pacer Kagiso Rabada. "That’s where you lost the series Virat! Apart from Bumrah (in Sa) you’re not losing sleep over that attack," he tweeted.

India slipped to number 5 in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 points table after losing the Test series.
