Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar praised Virat Kohli and company for their overseas success in Test cricket. He also mentioned the similarity of the current Indian Test side with the legendary Pakistan team from the past.

India have been outstanding away from home in the last few years, especially in the longest format of the game. They defeated Australia twice at their home, and also took a 2-1 lead against England last year, with the last Test getting postponed due to COVID-19.

Kohli and his men are now looking to continue their domination with a Test series win in South Africa. They have won the first Test of the three-match series in Centurion.

Manjrekar, in conversation with ESPNCrinfo, said that the fast-bowling unit of the current Indian side is the major reason for their overseas success. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, and Umesh Yadav have succeeded in troubling the opponents.

"One thing that has changed in recent 5-6 years for the Indian team, which has been a rare instance for India. India's overseas success comes because India now has the luxury of having three world-class seam bowlers. It has had a huge impact," he said.

The cricket pundit further gave the example of Pakistan's victories outside their country due to the fast bowling attack which included Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar.

"If you look at the history of Test cricket, earlier when Pakistan used to win outside their country, they too had 3 world-class seamers. And now India find themselves in the same condition. These are good signs for Indian cricket," he added.
