Virat Kohli and Indian team will be looking to win their first Test series in South Africa | GettyIndia has toured South Africa seven times since 1992 and has a very poor record in the longest format of the game in the rainbow nation. Much of the losses came in the 1990s-2000s when the Indian team struggled overseas on bouncy pitches against quality pace bowlers.

India managed to draw a Test series just once in 2010-11 when MS Dhoni’s side toured, while their first Test win in South Africa came in the 2006-07 series under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid.

The last time India toured South Africa was in 2017-18 and lost the three-Test series 2-1 despite showing great grit and determination under captain Virat Kohli.
