Virat Kohli's childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has reacted to the recent press conference of India Test captain. Kohli's presser, on Wednesday (December 15), before departing for the South Africa tour has been in discussion mainly due to the bold revelations.

The 33-year-old put an end to the rumors of his rift with Rohit Sharma and said he wasn't opting out of the ODI series against South Africa as reports suggested.

Kohli also went against the comments made by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and revealed that he had no communication with the cricket board regarding ODI captaincy, and BCCI had accepted his decision to quit T20I leadership.

Earlier, Ganguly had said he personally requested Kohli to reconsider his decision to leave the T20I captaincy. Kohli had announced his decision to give up the role in September before the second phase of IPL 2021.

Speaking on the podcast Khelneeti, Rajkumar backed Kohli to not let the outside noise affect his cricket and he added that the India Test captain is not greedy for anything.

"It might be in the back of his mind, but once he steps on the ground, I don't think it would impact him. Virat is not greedy for anything; he has a lot of self-belief and he knows he will give his 100 percent," he said.

Rajkumar is expecting the cricket board to handle the controversy effectively, and he further mentioned that this is a needless controversy before an important tour of South Africa.

"It's obviously a little disturbing for any player when such conflicts or controversy happens. But I'm hopeful that the board will be tackling this situation efficiently and it won't be dragged further," he said.

"I don't want to speak much on the subject because it's directly linked with Virat. But I feel that it could've been better if such strong words weren't used from both sides. The team is doing good; I don't think we need a needless controversy," he added.
