BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has refused to comment on India Test captain Virat Kohli's statements in a recent press conference. Ganguly said he has nothing to say and the cricket body will deal with the situation.

"Let's not take this further, I have nothing to say," Ganguly told reporters on Friday (December 17). When questioned if BCCI would take any action against Kohli after the South Africa tour, the ex-India captain replied, "I have nothing to say. It is the matter of the BCCI and they will only deal with it."

Kohli on Wednesday (December 15) contradicted Ganguly’s statement on the captaincy and said that no communication happened between him and the BCCI selection committee. He further confirmed that BCCI never asked him to reconsider quitting the T20I captaincy.

“Whatever was said about the communication that happened about the decision that was made was inaccurate,” Kohli said. “I was contacted one and half hours before selection meeting on 8th for Test series and there was no prior communication to me at all since I announced my decision on T20 captaincy.”

Ganguly had told ANI that he had personally spoken to Kohli about his decision to step down as T20I captain. "It's a call that the BCCI and the selectors took together. Actually, the BCCI had requested Virat to not step down as the T20I skipper but obviously, he did not agree. And the selectors then did not feel it right to have two different captains for two white-ball formats," he had said.

"So it was decided that Virat will continue as Test captain and Rohit will take over as the white-ball captain. I as President personally spoke to Virat Kohli and the chairman of selectors has also spoken to him," the BCCI president had added.

Currently, Kohli is on a South Africa tour with Team India for the upcoming three-match Test series, starting on December 26.
