Asked to bat first, West Indies posted 157/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran was the top scorer with 43-ball 61, including 4 fours and 5 sixes. Skipper Kieron Pollard (24*) and opener Kyle Mayers (31*) also chipped in with handy contributions.

Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who made his India debut in this game, was the stand-out bowler for India, returning with the figures of 2/17 in his stipulated four overs.

In reply, the Men in Blue got off to a flying start as captain Rohit Sharma played a blazing knock of 19-ball 40 at the top.

However, India’s innings crumbled a bit after Rohit’s dismissal with Ishan Kishan (35 off 42 balls) struggling to time the ball and Virat Kohli (17) and Rishabh Pant (8) failing the make the starts count.

Amid the tense situation, it was Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 34 off 18 balls and Venkatesh Iyer’s 13-ball 24* came to India’s rescue. The duo shared an unbroken 48-run partnership for the sixth wicket to take the hosts over the line with seven balls to spare.
