Rohit Sharma’s stint as the full-time white-ball skipper started on a high as Team India thumped West Indies by 6 wickets on Sunday (February 6), in what was their 1000th ODI game at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Everything Rohit Sharma touched turned to gold as he first made brilliant bowling changes and on account of superlative effort by bowlers, the hosts bundled out the Kieron Pollard-led side for just 176 runs.
Chasing the target, Rohit Sharma led from the front as he smashed a quick half-century to set up the chase for his side. In what was his comeback match after the hamstring injury that kept him out for the South Africa tour, the Indian skipper scored 60 runs from 51 deliveries and smashed 10 fours and one maximum in his innings.

Sharma’s lone six came against Alzarri Joseph in the 10th over of Indian innings. He cleared the boundary with his trademark pull-shot over the fine leg, which made many fans and pundits laud the Indian skipper.
While he earned rich praises for the six he hit, West Indies skipper and fellow Mumbai Indians teammate Kieron Pollard’s reaction after that has gone viral as he was left stunned with Sharma’s ability to clear the fence with ease.
