When the BCCI released the Indian squad for upcoming limited-overs against the West Indies, it was revealed that the white-ball vice-captain KL Rahul was only available from the second ODI onwards, which was slated to be played in Ahmedabad.

While the BCCI did not go into depth, ESPNCricinfo reported that Rahul was permitted to miss the first ODI, which takes place on February 6, due to his sister's wedding. Rahul, however, is likely to play the remaining two ODIs and three T20Is of the series.

On the other hand, the Indian camp which arrived in Ahmedabad for the ODIs has been hit with a Covid-19 outbreak.  Four Indian players and three members of the support staff have tested positive for the virus.

Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Navdeep Saini, and Shreyas Iyer have tested positive. With Dhawan and Gaikwad being the Indian team's openers, there are still major worries over the team's opening lineup.

Despite the fact that skipper Rohit Sharma is set to open in the first ODI, Dhawan and Ruturaj are unlikely to be available. Following the Covid debacle, Mayank Agarwal has been added to the Indian squad. He'll most likely open the innings with Rohit Sharma in the first ODI against the West Indies.

The series' second and third ODIs will be played on February 9 and 11, respectively. The T20Is will take place on February 16, 18, and 20.
