IND v WI 2022: BCCI announces Team India squad for the West Indies ODI series

Kuldeep Yadav makes a comeback into the Indian ODI team.

Kuldeep Yadav | GettyThe BCCI, on January 26, 2022, announced the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series which will be played from February 6 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The tour will also consist of three T20I matches which will be played in Kolkata from February 16 onwards.

Virat Kohli has been named in the squad which will be captained by Rohit Sharma, who passed the fitness test earlier in the day. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shikhar Dhawan form the batting side of the squad. 

KL Rahul will be available from the second ODI onwards.

However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been dropped from the West Indies ODI series, after not impressing against South Africa. Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur were picked. As for the spin bowling side of things, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal will be seen together after a long time. Washington Sundar was also picked in the ODI squad.

New faces include Ravi Bishnoi, who earned his maiden India call-up, while Deepak Hooda, and Avesh Khan have been rewarded for their performances in recent white-ball tournaments and the IPL 2021.

On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami have been rested from both ODIs and T20Is. Ravindra Jadeja will miss the entire series as he is still recovering from his knee injury.
