IND v SL 2023: Cricket fraternity reacts as Virat Kohli slams 45th ODI century; India makes 373/7

This was Kohli's 9th ODI century vs Sri Lanka and 20th at home in India.

Visiting captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and chose to bowl first and Dilshan Madushanka made his ODI debut.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were on fire in the powerplay overs and both hit half-centuries as they added 143 runs for the first wicket inside 20 overs. Gill fell for 70 in 60 balls with 11 fours, while Rohit Sharma slammed 83 in 67 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes.

Gill fell LBW to Dasun Shanaka, while Rohit Sharma became the maiden ODI victim of Dilshan Madushanka, who is making his debut for Sri Lanka.

Shreyas Iyer looked good for his 28 runs but got out trying to force the pace of scoring, while KL Rahul was bowled for 39 in 29 balls behind his legs.

He was flawless in the execution of his shots and though he was dropped twice by the Sri Lankans, he managed to reach the milestone ton in 80 balls.

He fell for 113 runs in 87 balls with 12 fours and 1 six to his name. This was his 9th century against Sri Lankans in ODIs and 20th at home in the format, equaling the record of the great Sachin Tendulkar.

India finished on 373/7 in 50 overs. For Sri Lanka, Kasun Rajitha picked 3/88.
