Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Sunday (6th March) said that his heroics in the first Test against Sri Lanka will only boost his and the team’s confidence.

Team India claimed a massive innings and 222 runs victory over Sri Lanka in the first Test in Mohali. The main architect behind the team’s win was all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

The southpaw put on a show for ages as he first scored unbeaten 175 runs with the bat and then returned to rattle up Sri Lanka’s batting line-up with the ball. The all-rounder claimed the figures of 5/41 and 4/46 in two innings and helped the Rohit Sharma-led side finish the match within three days.

Jadeja was also awarded Player of the Match for his exceptional performance and also was lauded by many fans and pundits for his heroics.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Ravindra Jadeja called Mohali his lucky ground. He talked about his performance and was delighted to score runs and take wickets for his team.

"I would say this is my lucky ground. Whenever I come here I get positive vibes. I was looking to build a partnership with Rishabh, give him the strike and enjoy his batting from the other end. To be honest I don't know about any stat. Feeling very good, happy to score runs and pick wickets for the team," Jadeja said.

Ravindra Jadeja further said that he backed his strengths and tried to keep things simple in the middle. The all-rounder also talked about the upcoming pink-ball Test and admitted that it’s going to be a different challenge for him as he hasn’t played with the SG pink ball.

"Obviously as a player, you boost your confidence with such a performance. I have not done anything differently, just played to my strengths and I give myself time to settle down. I look to keep it very simple out in the middle. I haven't played with the SG pink ball, so it is going to be different and I will practice for a couple of days, hopefully, it comes good," he said.

The second Test between India and Sri Lanka, which will also be a day-night affair, will be played in Bengaluru on 12th March.
