Team India suffered two injury blows ahead of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka after batter Suryakumar Yadav and pacer Deepak Chahar were ruled out with injuries.
Suryakumar, in particular, was in red-hot form with the bat as he was named the Player-of-the-Series against West Indies. Chahar too bowled well in the limited opportunities against the Caribbean side. India have asked for no replacements.
“Deepak sustained a right quadriceps injury during bowling while Suryakumar suffered a hairline fracture during a fielding attempt in the third and final T20I against the West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday. They will now head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further management of their injuries.” BCCI said in its media release.
The three T20Is will be played on February 24, 26 and 27 with the first match to be played in Lucknow and the last two in Dharamsala.
