The BCCI selection committee led by Chetan Sharma on Saturday (February 19) announced Team India’s squad for the upcoming three-T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja return to the side after missing out on the West Indies white-ball series. While Bumrah was rested after the daunting South Africa tour, Jadeja was recovering from the knee injury.
The 18-member squad didn’t include veteran batter Virat Kohli, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, and all-rounder Shardul Thakur as the selectors decided to give them a break from the bubble life.
In the absence of Pant, Sanju Samson will don the wicketkeeping gloves in the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
The remaining squad is the same that is featuring against West Indies in the ongoing T20I series. Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the side, which also includes Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Avesh Khan.
