Veteran Indian off-spinner R Ashwin heaped praise on left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav after his stunning performance with the ball in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against South Africa.
The left-arm wrist-spinner finished the recent ODI series as the highest wicket-taker with 6 scalps, including the Player of the Match winning figures of 4/18 in the series-deciding third ODI to help Team India beat South Africa by seven wickets to clinch the series by a 2-1 margin at home.
Following his impressive display in the ODI series, Ashwin said that he is a fan of Kuldeep’s ability to bowl at "repetitive lengths" and has always rated Kuldeep highly when it comes to wrist spinners.
Notably, Kuldeep was once the first-choice overseas spinner, but now he has been struggling to cement his place in India’s white-ball set-up while Test opportunities are far away from him.
R Ashwin said on his YouTube channel: “I have always felt this about Kuldeep Yadav when we talk about wrist spinners. He has got this amazing feature to bowl the repetitive lengths that are required to do well in the longest format of the game.”
The off-spinner signed off by saying, “He can land in a particular spot whenever he wants, and that's a fantastic quality for a wrist spinner. That's a massive value for a wrist spinner.”
