The right-hander scored 119 runs in the series, including two half-centuries, and rightfully earned the Player-of-the-Series award.

Speaking after the third and final T20I, which India lost by 49 runs, Suryakumar said he doesn't look at statistics when asked if he knew he hit 50 sixes this calendar year.

“Not really, I didn't check the stats. But I think that was the demand of the game. My friends send these things (stats and numbers) on whatsapp, I don't follow it,” he said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

In the third T20I, Suryakumar Yadav endured a rare failure as he got out for 6-ball 8 while chasing South Africa’s target of 228.

“The thought process was the same, I just wanted to enjoy. I had to take a step back and build a partnership with him. Didn't work today,” he added.

Dinesh Karthik was the top scorer for India with 21-ball 46 while batting at No. 4 and Suryakumar joked that his spot is now in trouble.

“DK needed some game time, and I think the way he batted, my number 4 is in trouble.”

Suryakumar Yadav will be next seen in action during the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, starting October 16.

"I haven't thought about Australia just yet but it's a challenge and I am looking forward to it," he stated.
