Umran Malik, the young speedster from Jammu and Kashmir got his maiden call-up for the Indian team for the upcoming South Africa T20I series, which begins on June 9.
Malik has garnered major attention in IPL 2022, performing pretty well for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and leaving everyone wide-eyed with his sheer pace.
Bowling upwards of 150 kmph regularly in the league, Umran Malik has set a new bar for the upcoming fast bowlers. To add to that, the discipline that he maintained throughout the tournament has been appreciated by fans and experts alike.
As of yet, Umran Malik has picked up 21 wickets in 13 matches, with a five-wicket haul against the Gujarat Titans. His fastest ball of the IPL 2022 was 157 kph.
Along with Umran, Punjab Kings' pacer Arshdeep Singh has also earned his maiden call-up for the national team for the forthcoming series against South Africa.
Post his selection for the Indian squad, National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah posted a congratulatory tweet for the 22-year-old pace sensation. He also said that he would be following the series keenly.
