India and South Africa will play five T20I matches next month.

Team India has busy schedule ahead | BCCI

The Indian cricket team’s international assignments resume with a home T20I series against South Africa in June after the conclusion of the ongoing IPL 2022.

From June 9 to June 19, India will be hosting South Africa in a five-match T20I series. After the end of the home series, Team India is scheduled to travel to Ireland for a two-match T20I series to be played on June 26 and 28, as well as set to travel to England for a rescheduled Test and bilateral white-ball series next month.

According to reports, there will be two separate coaches and squads for the England and Ireland tours. VVS Laxman is reportedly expected to travel to Ireland while Rahul Dravid will train India’s Test squad.

Meanwhile, South Africa has already announced a strong squad for the upcoming T20I series against India and Aakash Chopra warned the BCCI of picking a weak side considering the upcoming England tour.

Chopra stated: “If you were thinking that an experimental squad can be put out for this series and take June lightly before the tour of England, just think again. South Africa has tied India's hands now and will win the series if an ordinary team is put out. India has to play pretty much everyone.”

He concluded, “So, a request to the selectors, if the South African players don't need rest, then don't rest your main players either. If you take this lightly, then you will lose the series at home.”

Team India will play the series opener at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on June 9. The fifth and final T20I of the bilateral series will be contested at Bengaluru's M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 19.
