India skipper Virat Kohli’s dismissal was the talk of the town from the second session’s action on Day 1 of the Mumbai Test against New Zealand.

During the 30th over of India's innings, Kohli was struck on the front pad by a delivery from Ajaz Patel and was adjudged out by the on-field umpire after the New Zealand players appealed for LBW.

As soon as umpire Anil Chaudhary raised his finger, Kohli opted for the Decision Review System (DRS). Replays confirmed that Kohli got an inside-edge but it was tough to determine whether the ball hit the bat first before wrapping the pad or the impact happened simultaneously.

Third umpire Virender Sharma watched the replays several times from various angles but couldn’t find any conclusive evidence to overturn the on-field decision. As a result, three reds appeared on the big screen and the dejected Indian captain had to walk back to the pavilion for a four-ball duck.

While Virender Sharma didn’t find any conclusive evidence, fans felt the ball clearly hit the bat first and Kohli was hard done by the TV umpire.

Cricket experts too were left baffled by the third umpire's decision to give Virat Kohli out and they took to Twitter to share their views.
