IND v NZ 2021: Indian crowd in Kanpur chants 'Pakistan Murdabad'; infuriated Pakistani fans react on Twitter

A section of crowd was heard repeatedly chanting against Pakistan in Green Park.

Visitors New Zealand started on a bad note as stand-in India captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bat first. Shreyas Iyer made his Test debut for India, while Rachin Ravindra made his New Zealand Test debut as well.

Kyle Jamieson was the main wicket-taker for New Zealand picking three scalps as he started by getting rid of  Mayank Agarwal for 13. After a 61-run partnership between Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara, Southee dismissed India no.3 for 26 runs.

Gill completed his 4th Test fifty, before falling right after reaching the landmark to Jamieson. Ajinkya Rahane concentrated hard in the middle while playing some amazing shots. However, his innings was cut short after he inside-edged the ball onto his stumps off a delivery from Jamieson.

Debutant Shreyas Iyer completed a maiden Test fifty on debut while getting valuable support from all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as India ended day one on 258/4. Iyer is unbeaten on 75, while Jadeja is on 50*.

However, something interesting was spotted by users on Twitter, who shared a couple of videos of the match, which contained some chanting from the crowd at the Green Park.

In the first half-hour of India’s innings, the fans tried to motivate the Indian team with slogans of “Jeetega bhai Jeetega, India jeetega”. Amid this, one fan screamed “Pakistan Murdabad” with a few others following it with “Murdabad Murdabad”.

Later the fans were heard chanting “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” to show their patriotism towards India.
