IND v NZ 2021: Ajinkya Rahane congratulates Rohit Sharma for winning his first T20I series as full-time India captain

Rohit Sharma led Team India to a 3-0 victory over New Zealand in T20I series.

Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane congratulated Rohit Sharma for his first series win as the full-time India T20I skipper after the 3-0 whitewash against New Zealand in the recent series. 

Team India outplayed New Zealand in the third T20I to clinch the series (3-0) in Kolkata. The Rohit Sharma-led side displayed sensational performance throughout the series as every player chipped in at some stage and helped the hosts to whitewash the visitors.

They first defeated Black Caps by 5 wickets in the first T20I at Jaipur and then followed it with a 7-wicket win at Ranchi. The Men in Blue, after winning the first two matches by chasing, batted first in the last match and successfully defended the target to complete a 73-run win.

Skipper Rohit Sharma lead from the front in the entire series and scored 159 runs in the three matches, registering two half-centuries as well. The senior Indian opener was awarded the Player of the Series in his first series as a full-time T20I skipper. 

Ajinkya Rahane, who will captain Team India in the first Test against New Zealand, took to his official Twitter account and congratulated Rohit Sharma for his for a 'wonderful start' to his captaincy career with a series win. 

"Many congratulations @ImRo45 for a wonderful start with the series victory yesterday. Many more to come!" Ajinkya Rahane Tweeted. 

Team India will now face New Zealand in the two-match Test series. The first match will be played from 25th November in Kanpur while the second Test will be played in Mumbai from 3rd December.
