India won the fifth and final T20I against Australia in Bengaluru on December 3rd, 2023, and pocketed the five-match series 4-1.
It was a brilliant performance by the young Indian team to beat a formidable Australian side so convincingly in the final T20I. Put into bat first, India posted only 160/8 in 20 overs with Shreyas Iyer (53) and Akshar Patel (31) being the star scorers.
In the chase, Mukesh Kumar picked three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi took two each as Australia only managed 154/8 and lost the game by 6 runs. Ben McDermott top-scored with 54.
Ravi Bishnoi was named Player of the Series and Akshar Patel earned the Player of the Match award.
One of the standout performers for India with the bat was Rinku Singh. The left-hander from UP made 105 runs in 5 matches with a strike rate of 175. He hit 4 sixes and 13 fours as well.
Not only was Rinku the king on the field, but a viral video showed that he also had the heart of a king. In a video released by Rinku’s Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders, the hard-hitting batter can be seen signing a fan’s jersey after he calls for him at the airport.
This far, Rinku has represented India in 10 T20Is, scoring 180 runs in six innings at an average of 60 while striking at 187.50. He was also named in the India white-ball squad for the tour of South Africa as well.
