Gaikwad took the Australian bowling attack to the cleaners in the third T20I in Guwahati.

Ruturaj Gaikwad | GettyIndia opener Ruturaj Gaikwad put on a show with the bat in the third match of the five-T20I series against Australia in Guwahati on Tuesday (November 28).

Gaikwad started off cautiously after the hosts were invited to bat first by Australian skipper Matthew Wade. At one stage, the right-hander was batting on 21 off 21 balls after 10 overs but he unleashed his repertoire of stokes in the next 10 overs.

Gaikwad completed his half-century in 31 balls and then wreaked havoc on the Aussie bowling attack. He started dealing in boundaries, punishing Aaron Hardie for 25 runs in the 18th over to move into the 90s.

In the final over of the innings, Ruturaj Gaikwad slammed Glenn Maxwell’s first delivery for a six to notch up his maiden T20I ton in 52 deliveries. He smashed two more sixes and a couple of fours to accumulate 30 overs from that Maxwell over.

As a result, Gaikwad finished with 123 not out off 57 balls – the second highest individual score for India in T20Is. His knock was studded with 13 fours and 7 sixes, which helped India to rack up a mammoth 222/3 on the board.

For his scintillating knock, Ruturaj Gaikwad received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on social media platform X.
