Young Indian opener Shubman Gill has lauded Rohit Sharma's captaincy, as he was highlighting the Indian skipper’s commendable leadership style ahead of the third and final ODI against Australia, which is set to play in Rajkot on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
Gill admires Rohit Sharma for giving remarkable freedom to his players to showcase their talents on the field. The opener also said that Rohit also instructed the coaching staff to allow players to take their decisions during matches, as he firmly believes that the players are the best judges of their actions.
The right-hander said that this is Rohit's finest quality as both a cricketer and a captain, and his approach not only builds confidence but also encourages a culture of responsibility and ownership among the players, which eventually plays a role in the team’s success.
Shubman Gill was quoted as saying by Jio Cinema: “He gives a lot of freedom to players to express themselves. He tells the coaches as well to let the players make their own decisions on the field and that the player should be the best judge, and that is his best quality as a player and captain.”
Meanwhile, Gill has been in stunning form this year since the start of 2013, and he has already scored over 1200 runs at a staggering average of 71. He is happy with his performance.
Gill signed off by saying, “Yes, this year has been great for me. The preparation for the World Cup has been good. We have gotten good momentum from the Asia Cup as well. I think peaking at the right time is crucial ahead of a big tournament with so many matches.”
