Former Indian pacer Sreesanth came out in support of Bhuvneshwar Kumar after the senior seamer had been heavily criticized for his performance with the ball, especially in the death overs.

The 32-year-old medium pacer was one of the impressive new ball bowlers in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022, but his expensive 19th overs against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and in the first T20I against Australia led to heavy criticism. He conceded 16 runs in the 19th over against Australia in Mohali, and then he was not picked for the second T20I.

However, Bhuvneshwar wasn’t picked in India’s playing XI due to tactical changes as the second T20I was an 8-over affair in Nagpur. Meanwhile, Sreesanth backed the pacer to come good in the upcoming matches and asked people to support him and not write the veteran pacer off.

Sreesanth told IANS: “Everyone is talking about Bhuvi. Let him be 'yaar'. He is one of the best that Indian cricket has ever seen. Look at his records, from his maiden international match against Pakistan to even now, he has been doing very well. Every cricketer has lows and highs in their career.”

He added, “Let's support and don't put too much pressure on him. He is not going anywhere and will prove himself again. I have known Bhuvi since my U-17 days. He is just going to get better from what he is going through now. Don't write him off, don't worry about the 19th over, he will do well in upcoming matches.”
