Jasprit Bumrah not featuring in India’s playing XI for the first T20I against Australia despite being part of the squad raised a lot of questions.
Notably, Bumrah was recently included in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 and the preceding series against Australia and South Africa. He had missed out on the Asia Cup 2022 due to back injury.

Amid the speculations over his fitness, a Cricbuzz report suggests that the ace pacer is absolutely fine and he is set to be included in India’s playing XI for the second T20I against Australia in Nagpur on Friday (September 23).
As per the report, Bumrah didn’t feature in the series opener as the team management did not want to rush him into action straightaway after an injury lay-off.
"The team management did not want to rush him and that is the reason for his absence in the Mohali game," Cricbuzz quoted a BCCI source as saying.
"He has been bowling full blast at the nets and he is ready for action," the source further said.
The hosts missed Jasprit Bumrah’s services badly in Mohali on Tuesday (September 20) as they failed to defend 208 runs and conceded a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.
Speaking after the game, India all-rounder Hardik Pandya said that the team will not put too much pressure on Bumrah and give him sufficient time to make his comeback from an injury.
"We all know what he brings to the table and how important he is for us. There will be concerns here and there (about bowling) which is fine. We got to trust our boys. These are the best 15 in the country and that is why they are there in the squad," Hardik said in the post-match press conference.
"Jasprit not being there obviously makes a big difference. He is coming back after an injury, it is important for him to get enough time to kind of come back and may be not put a lot of pressure on himself," he added.
