Hardik Pandya, star India all-rounder, has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan that begins on June 13 in Dharamshala. Reports had revealed that Pandya, who is in BCCI CoE for medical clearance, suffered a leg injury.

Hardik had been working intensively from June 2 in Bengaluru, but this new issue is likely to keep him in Bengaluru for a while. Pandya had suffered a back spasm during the IPL 2026 and had missed a few matches for Mumbai Indians.

Yes, Hardik has been ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan due to an injury,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told Times of India on Wednesday.

The decision on his replacement will be taken by team management at a later date, as the Team India squad also has Nitish Kumar Reddy in it.

Hardik and former India captain Rohit Sharma were added by the BCCI to the home ODI series against Afghanistan on a "subject to fitness" basis. Rohit is anticipated to join the team soon after passing the necessary tests.

Although the BCCI has not yet revealed the team for that tour, Pandya is anticipated to be available for the three ODIs in England, which are scheduled to take place on July 14, 16, and 19.

India's preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia continue to revolve around Hardik. Despite his outstanding achievements in two T20 World Cup-winning campaigns, the selectors did not include him in the T20I squad to help him stay well and ready for the upcoming ODI schedule, which consists of three matches each against Afghanistan and England over the next month.
