The Indian ODI players have begun their preparation for the first game of the three-match series in Birmingham. This game will be played on July 14 at Edgbaston, with the second ODI scheduled for July 16 in Cardiff and the final match on July 19 at Lord’s.
The two big-wigs of the Indian ODI squad, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, were seen practicing in the nets side-by-side along with select members of the Indian ODI squad.
Virat Kohli last played for India earlier this year against New Zealand and had scored one fifty and a century in the series. He then missed the Afghanistan ODIs after the IPL 2026, as he had suffered a hamstring injury during the tournament final.
In contrast, Rohit Sharma has struggled in ODIs in 2026. He has scored 204 runs in 6 games this year, with only one fifty, which came against Afghanistan in Chennai.
The two have a difficult task ahead of them as they continue to compete for spots in the Indian squad for the 2027 ODI World Cup. The two batted in nets with staunch defense and a strong desire to smash the bowlers.
During their brief encounter during the drill, they appeared relaxed and ready to return to the field. Rohit and Kohli were also spotted giggling together during the field drill.
