The home side was reduced to 148/6 in the 29th over and was in desperate need of a good knock from someone and it was then David Willey (41 off 49 balls) and Moeen Ali (47 off 64 balls) stitched together a great partnership. The second innings started with Recce Topley dismissing Rohit Sharma for a duck and things kept going downhill post that for the Men in Blue as the wickets kept on falling.

The English bowlers bowled brilliantly and did not allow the Indian batters to settle and made a subpar total look insurmountable. The Three Lions rolled over the tourists to register a massive 100-run victory to level the series, 1-1.

"We didn't bat our best, but will still got to a challenging score. Traditionally, it has been a bat-first wicket... I think it's the mark of the guys... We were still positive. David Willey and Moeen Ali put on a great partnership. We needed to take early wickets, and put them under pressure,” Buttler was quoted as saying.

Buttler also heaped praise on Topley, who won the Player of the Match honors for his outstanding figures of 6/24 in 9.5 overs.

“[On Topley] He has been fantastic. It was a special day. Happy to get a win. The team has been doing some great things for a number of years. Fantastic to show that character today," he added.

The series decider will be played at the Old Trafford on Sunday (July 17).
