Pakistan batter Imam-ul-Haq said that he wants his ‘best friend’ Babar Azam to break Virat Kohli’s records. He expects his teammate to score three to four thousand runs more than the former Indian skipper by the end of his career.

Both Kohli and Babar are considered modern greats. The duo is breaking numerous records along the way and is the leading batter in all three formats of the game for their respective nations.

Over the past few years, Kohli versus Babar debate has grabbed the attention of cricket fans and experts. Many call the former Indian skipper the best in the game while some say the Pakistani captain is better than Kohli in the last few years.

Talking about recent times, Babar has been in the form of his life in all three formats of the game. He has been scoring runs at an average of 92-plus in the ODIs whereas in Tests he has an average of 78.

On the other hand, Kohli has been struggling to score runs and has not been in the best of form of late, having last scored an international ton in 2019.

Speaking in an interview, Imam-ul-Haq while calling Kohli a legend compared his record with Babar and said that the Pakistan skipper is way ahead of him currently.

He quipped that he wants Babar to beak plenty of Kohli’s records.

“Virat Kohli is a legend and there’s no doubt about that. If someone has played 240 plus matches and someone 80, then you can’t compare them. If you compare their careers right now, then Babar is way ahead, but as my best friend and captain of Pakistan, I want him to break plenty of Kohli’s records,” Imam-ul-Haq said.

Imam said that the comparison between Kohli and Babar is not justified but at the end of their careers, he wants the Pakistan skipper to score 3-4 thousand runs more than the former.

“But right now, I can’t understand the comparisons. One has more than 10,000 runs. Yes, at the end of their careers, I want Babar to score 3 to 4 thousand runs more than Kohli in every format,” he said.

So far, Kohli has played 460 international matches in which he has scored 23,693 runs to go with 70 tons. While Babar has been a part of 203 matches across the formats, having scored 9979 runs along with 24 centuries.
