It was an emphatic win by the England side, who were asked to bat first by Rohit Sharma who won the toss. England came in unchanged while India made one change with Shreyas Iyer making way for Virat Kohli, who had missed the first ODI due to a groin niggle.

With the 110 all out on their minds in the first ODI, England started off cautiously but it seemed like the history will repeat itself a bit. Despite Jason Roy making 23 and Jonny Bairstow made 38, England found themselves 102/5 in 22 overs.

India was expected to have a cakewalk of a chase, given how they hunted down 110 runs in the first match, but England opening bowlers Reece Topley and David Willey, along with Craig Overton came out all guns blazing.

They took advantage of the Lord’s surface and it resulted in Rohit Sharma making 0 and Shikhar Dhawan making 9 runs. Rishabh Pant made a duck after being promoted to no.4.

Virat Kohli’s rotten run continued as after hitting 3 sublime fours in his 16-run knock, his habit of poking at deliveries outside off led to his downfall.
