ENG v IND 2022: Cricket fraternity lauds Jasprit Bumrah as his career-best ODI figures restricts England to 110

India skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first after winning the toss and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah proved his decision right with a sensation new-ball spell.

Bumrah tore apart the English top-order, removing Jason Roy (0), Jonny Bairstow (7), and Joe Root (0) to put the hosts on the backfoot. His next victim was Liam Livingstone (0) as India reduced England to 26/5 and Bumrah’s bowling figures read 4 for 9 in five overs.

In his second spell, Jasprit Bumrah knocked over Brydon Carse (15) and David Willey (21) to return with the career-best ODI figures of 6 for 19 in 7.1 overs. It was also the third best bowling figures by an Indian in the 50-over format.

Besides Bumrah, Mohammad Shami also troubled the England batters. Shami accounted for Ben Stokes (0), Jos Buttler (30), and Craig Overton’s (8) dismissals and finished with the figures of 3 for 31 in his 7 overs.

India’s third seamer Prasidh Krishna (1-26 in 5 overs) took the remaining one scalp of Moeen Ali as the tourists bundled out the home team for a paltry 110 in 25.2 overs.
