Veteran seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar played a key role in India’s thumping 49-run victory over England in the second T20I at Edgbaston on Saturday (July 9).

Defending the total of 170, Bhuvneshwar bowled exceptionally well with the new ball, dismissing English openers Jason Roy (0) and Jos Buttler (4) cheaply. Later on, he got rid of a tail-ender in Richard Gleeson and eventually returned with the figures of 3 for 15 in his three overs.

Other bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah (2-10) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2-10) also registered impressive figures as the visitors bowled out the hosts for a paltry 121 in 17 overs.

Speaking after the game, Bhuvneshwar said he goes for an attack when the ball is swinging and this gives him a fruitful reward.

"If it swings, I go for attack only. Batters attack on a flat track. Both matches had swing and I attacked. This increases the chance of getting wickets. When it swings it is tempting. You want to bowl one inswing then one outswing. But you have to control yourself and focus on one line," said Bhuvneshwar during a press conference.

"I was surprised that ball was swinging for a long time, especially in T20I cricket and there is a bit of bounce on the wicket," he added.

When asked if he is looking forward to playing Test cricket, the pacer said, "Honestly I am not thinking about anything at the moment. Of course, I would not say a 'no' when I get opportunities in Tests. Whatever opportunities I get I try to do well."

With this victory, Team India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. The third and final T20I of the series will take place on Sunday (July 10) at Trent Bridge.
