Team India kick-started their white-ball series against England with a dominating victory in the first T20I in Southampton. Skipper Rohit Sharma made a comeback to the side after recovering from the Covid-19 and what stood out tall for the visitors was their aggressive approach.

Almost every Indian batter batted with a strike rate of more than 150 and helped their side post a big total of 198 runs on the board. After Rohit gave his team a brisk start, Deepak Hooda continued from where he left in Ireland and smashed English bowlers all over the park.

Hooda began his run-scoring with two successive sixes off Moeen Ali and ended up scoring 33 runs in just 17 balls. One of the maximums that he smashed almost hit Ravi Shastri and Mike Atherton in the commentary box. The former cricketers had to duck as the ball passed by.

After India posted a total of 198 runs on the board, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh troubled English batters with their swing. Hardik Pandya, who scored a half-century with the bat, backed up their impressive opening spell and shined with the ball. He picked 4 wickets to help his side win the match by 50 runs and take 1-0 lead in the series.
